CounterSpy Review

CounterSpy is a powerful spyware remover based on avant-garde hybrid engine, which incorporates traditional anti-spyware and advanced antivirus engines. Installation is simple and quick. CounterSpy is launched as any other regular program.

Once the program is running, you can start scanning your system. Initial configuration is optional. Special Getting Started wizard can guide you through the most essential settings. However, the default setup is just fine.

CounterSpy proposes three different scan modes - Full System, Quick and Custom. The first two modes are very similar - the program checks registry keys, running processes, web browser cookies and the entire file system. The only difference is the thoroughness of scan. The Custom mode is much more flexible. It allows the user to select, which locations to scan. You can scan only processes and registry keys, or check one single folder or drive.

My PC Explorers provide details on running processes, downloaded ActiveX scripts, startup programs, Internet applications, various web browser settings and networking options. My PC Checkup checks current system security settings and suggests optional changes in case some system components are not configured safely enough. History Cleaner deletes activity tracks stored in local applications in order to protect user privacy. Secure File Eraser is designed to unrecoverably delete selected files and folders.

The program implements powerful Active Protection, which is comprised of special monitors that watch system startup, important system options, software installation, file execution and Internet Explorer settings. You can turn off any monitor you want without having to disable real-time protection.
